Is it just me or does anyone else feel like this week is the first time you can come up for air since the lockdown started? Even as a veteran homeschool mom, the notion that all of my little’s extracurriculars are credited for a later date has been a huge adjustment. We are also working diligently and around-the-clock to provide the best live, virtual program at a reasonable cost for parents here at SmartBots Makerspace. Needless to say, this mama was tired. However, this week I felt somewhat accomplished. Meal planning was done early, our staff did not pull all-nighters and that pile of laundry I’d been looking at for a week finally got folded. I realized I had gone back to the resources, tips and tricks I used when I first began homeschooling, so I wanted to share a few of those with you today.
Got a picky eater? Children are more likely to eat food they have either grown or chosen themselves. Make meal time easier and combine learning at the same time with our free Menu Planner Scavenger Hunt. Students will learn life skills, practice basic calculations and if they are old enough, they can use the list to submit your digital grocery order for you. This can be adapted to all ages and grades.
I don’t know where I would be without my Happy Planner. I discovered the last few weeks I was too busy to write anything down and boy, did I feel it. So this week, I made a poignant effort to start back using my planner and the Sunday brain dump made a world of a difference. If you feel like your schedule is thrown off check out these free Quarantine Planner stickers by Mom Envy.
Since we are at home most of the days, I have been delegating, delegating, delegating to keep our home as least messy as possible. (Give yourself grace, Mama, if things are everywhere.) I have learned that the more visual prompts I give, the more likely things will get done so we are using Visual Schedule Cards by Erin at lifeabundantlyblog.com. We even made a Chore Chart with a designated reward system using these cards. I will post a blog with DIY instructions to that later in the week.
